Anna is an Archaeologist by trade, though she currently works as a Writer/Editor for the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). She holds a BA in Anthropology and Archaeology from the University of Virginia and an MA in Anthropology with a specialization in Professional Archaeology from the University of Nebraska.
For her thesis, she researched ground stone technology from the Basketmaker III period in southwest Colorado, emphasizing how much archaeologists can learn from it and its significance in understanding women through the archeological record.
Anna’s research and professional experiences have been concentrated in the southwest, and have included working for non-profits, cultural resource management firms, and three Federal agencies. She has worked as an Archaeologist at Death Valley National Park, the Midwest Archeological Center, and most recently at Bandelier National Monument, among other public land units.
In her role as a Writer/Editor at FRA, Anna works in the Office of Research, Data, and Innovation, editing research publications, and producing a variety of documents to communicate research to different audiences.
At the Chaco Culture Conservancy, she aims to use these communication skills in combination with her knowledge of southwest archaeology and public land management to garner support for Chaco and Aztec.
Anna is passionate about contributing to the stewardship of public lands. Like many, she discovered her passion for the southwest and its rich cultural histories after visiting NPS units throughout the region that preserve Indigenous cultural heritage. She is originally from Virginia but calls northern New Mexico home. Anna enjoys playing roller derby with the Los Alamos Derby Dames and visiting National Parks as often as she can.
