To celebrate Women’s History Month, the Chaco Culture Conservancy is bringing you a special webinar talk by Venaya Yazzie. Venaya is a Navajo (Dine) and Hopi (Kisani) artist and educator. Venaya’s talk, Women of Water: Navajo and Pueblo Women’s Identities and Cultural Landscapes will encompass the historical and cultural narratives of the high desert matriarchy in the four corners southwest region. This presentation is rooted in the rich oral histories of Navajo (Diné) and Pueblo women’s stories of land, water and their kinship relationships to place. Engagement of contemporary narratives of 21st century Indigenous women narratives are also highlighted.
