Board Member
Steve was raised in southern California and central Ohio. After graduate school in Philadelphia, he mostly has lived in the western U.S., including 15 years in Utah and the last decade in Oregon. His academic research background was in experimental astrophysics.
The son of a field geologist, he always has held an affinity for the field sciences, including archeology, atmospheric science, hydrology, and ecology. From his earlier base in Salt Lake City, Steve has explored much of the Colorado Plateau and the Great Basin. He has spent the last 30 years working around advanced Internet technologies and higher education IT. In this capacity, he has worked for three higher ed non-profits (including the one that he currently leads – Link Oregon).
He has extensive experience as a board member of technology non-profits, including three stints as board treasurer, and has worked frequently with multiple federal and state agencies and Tribes. Steve has long been active in the effort to protect public lands with wilderness qualities in Utah and other states. Steve first visited Chaco Canyon in 2011 and has felt strongly ever since about its singular uniqueness and the continued need for its long-term protection and support. He joined the CCC Board in early 2025.
