The Western National Parks Association stores in the Visitor Centers at Chaco Culture National Historical Park and Aztec Ruins National Monument are now open after being closed for over a year due to the COVID pandemic. These stores are a great place to purchase books on the specific parks, Southwest archaeology and nature, and other sites in the area. Each store also has beautiful art from area tribal artisans as well as other souvenirs of the area. The stores are open 9-4 every day except Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
While the stores are open, the remainder of the Visitor Centers remain closed. The parks, however, are open and Spring is a wonderful time to visit them both. It is a great time to hike the trails at Chaco Culture NHP before the heat of the summer begins. Spring is beautiful at Aztec Ruins. Walking the 1/4 trail through the Aztec West as the surrounding Cottonwood trees begin to leaf out is peaceful and rewarding.
