Since 2010 Yakanal has conducted eight cultural exchanges that took place in New Mexico including, Chaco Culture NHP and Aztec Ruins NM, as well as the Yucatan, Mexico and Guatemala.
One of the projects was a media training workshop, partially funded by the Chaco Culture Conservancy, which allowed the youth to edit their own footage taken during cultural exchange gatherings, to develop a short video on the importance of water from the perspectives of culture and preservation.
Ha’ Agua Water Tz’itz is a video-poem-a poetic documentary. Water flows throughout our lives, connecting us in out diversity, and together we send ha’, agua, water, tz’itz our gratitude, praise, apologies, and prayers.
